The Met Galas good, bad and the almost naked! Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Sarah Jessica Parker put a Chinese twist on fashion at $25k-a-ticket party with crazy results  The annual fundraising gala in New York costs $25,000-per-ticket  The event is chaired by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence is co-chair

The Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute rolled out the red carpet for the whos who of fashion on Monday night in New York City.

And this year’s Met Gala theme – China: Through The Looking Glass – saw the stars who can’t resist a daring look pulling out all the stops, with Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Sarah Jessica Parker among those attracting the most attention.

While Rihanna and Sarah turned heads for their wacky ensembles, Beyonce and Kim set tongues wagging with gowns that left them looking nearly naked.

A show-stopping look: A nearly naked Beyonce led the glamour at the star-studded Met Gala in New York City on Monday night

Queen Bey: The singer trumped all her fellow guests as she pulled her fiercest poses

Beyonce may have been one of the last attendees to arrive on the red carpet, she certainly made up for lost time.

The singer was wearing a naked-effect dress by Givenchy. The tight-fitting gown was completely sheer and meant the star had nothing but some strategically placed colourful jewels protecting her modesty.

Beyonce wore tan sandals and pulled her fiercest poses on the red carpet beside husband Jay Z, with her blonde hair styled in a high ponytail to best show off her dazzling ensemble.

Naked ambition: Beyonces pal Kim Kardashian also decided to sport a nude-effect gown covered in crystals

Turning every head: Rihanna made sure that she left a lasting impression as she made her arrival

Sticking to the dress code: Sarah Jessica Parker certainly dressed to fit the China: Through The Looking Glass theme

Going for a similar - but surprisingly marginally more modest look was Kim Kardashian.

The reality star naturally wanted a look that would get her noticed, and she easily managed that in a Roberto Cavalli creation that hugged every inch of her famous figure.

The gown had the effect of a nude bodysuit covered in sparkling silver crystals, and featured a long white feather train.

Nearly naked: Like Kim, Beyonce wore a nude-effect gown, but hers was completely sheer with just some jewels protecting her modesty

The 34-year-old reality star, who was attending the gala for the third time, was joined by her rapper husband Kanye West - who clearly loved his wifes sexy look.

After Kim had headed inside, Rihanna caused jaws to drop when she arrived in a rich yellow robe featuring heavy embroidery, a fur trim and the longest train of any of the guests.

The songstress still managed to leave plenty of skin on show with the gown starting at her cleavage and featuring a split up the front, and accessorised with a gold headdress.

Always one to ruffle feathers: Kim left almost nothing to the imagination in her jewelled gown with feather train

She’s a fashion devotee to her favourite designers Givenchy and Balmain, but Kim Kardashian is continuing to dip her toes into the style world and has made her first debut in Roberto Cavalli for the 2015 Met Gala. And we didnt think wed see so much of her.

Reminiscent of Beyonces 2012 Met Gala appearance in a semi sheer Givenchy gown which which made headlines, Kim made it clear it was her time to shine in the intricately created crystal and feather embellished creation designed by Peter Dundas who has returned to the helm of Cavalli.

And since it’s her first time wearing the Italian brand, we think she’s done a great job of pulling off the dramatic feather-train dress in synchrony with the evening’s oriental theme. That’s two birds with one stone, for you!

Designed to flatter her hourglass figure with its form-fitting design and see-through inserts in all of the right places, Dundas made sure Kim winged it at tonights Met Gala, and its one of the best looks weve seen on her to date thanks to its manic simplicity.

Sadly, Kims dress is not available to buy since its past season, but you can shop Cavallis current collection at Net-a-Porter (click right) or check out our favourite white sheer maxi dresses in the edit below.

On display: The reality stars Roberto Cavalli design hugged every inch of her curves, and had the effect of a nude bodysuit

Uh huh honey: Kim, 34, was joined by her rapper husband Kanye West, who let his wife have the spotlight

And once Rihanna had posed at the entrance, she needed three people to hold her train as she made her way up the stairs in her sky high glittering sandals.

Sarah Jessica Parker always manages to shock at the annual event, and this year was certainly no exception.

The actress showed up in an elaborate flame-like red and white headdress by Philip Treacy, stopping all the other guests in their tracks.

Showing everyone how to make an entrance: Jaws dropped when Rihanna arrived in yellow Guo Pei

In need of assistance: Three people had to help the 27-year-old to walk up the stairs

A look to remember: Rihanna sported a gold headpiece and sparkly heels with the outfit, which had a huge embroidered train and fur trim

However will she sit down?: While it was certainly one of the most memorable ensembles of the evening, it didnt look too comfortable

The hat was a nod to this years theme, China: Through The Looking Glass, which asked guests to wear outfits reflecting an East Asian influence.

Sarah, who arrived alongside Andy Cohen, also wore a black satin one-shouldered gown featuring embroidery and embellished with flowers, which was designed in collaboration with H&M.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga unsurprisingly relished the chance to wear a wacky outfit, in the form of a black and white netted custom Balenciaga design, with a low-cut neckline.

She doesnt disappoint: Sarah wore an extravagant flame-like red and white headdress by Philip Treacy

Striking at every angle: Sarah twirled in her black satin gown, which was designed in collaboration with H&M

Firm friends: The 50-year-old Sex And The City star was joined by Bravos Andy Cohen

A severe look: Lady Gaga teamed a netted custom Balenciaga black and white robe with a headdress, sparkly platforms, and extreme eyebrows

The Force is strong with this one: Anne Hathaway looked like something out of Star Wars in her gold hooded Ralph Lauren creation

Heavenly: Selena Gomez teamed her angelic white Vera Wang gown with a large flowery headpiece

The 29-year-old singer enhanced her ensemble with a black headpiece and matching sparkly platform boots, and drew on dark pointed eyebrows.

Guests at the gala took risks in very different ways. Anne Hathaway looked as though she was referencing the fact that it was Star Wars Day in a gold lame creation by Ralph Lauren with a hood.

I kind of feel like Im from the deco future, the 32-year-old actress told reporters as she posed in her Jedi-like gown.

Ooh la la: Kendall Jenner skipped the theme in favour of a very racy green Calvin Klein number, leaving lots of sideboob on show

Playing it safe: Jennifer Lawrence looked gorgeous without going over-the-top in a fitted Dior gown with a cut-out section across the stomach

Going for gold: (L-R) Kate Hudson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jessica Chastain paid homage to old Hollywood glamour

So in love: George Clooney and wife Amal couldnt help but gaze adoringly at one another on the red carpet

Who can blame him?: George couldnt keep his eyes off Amal in her teared red John Galliano for Masion Margiela gown

Not everyone wanted to go over-the-top with this years theme, and Jennifer Lawrence - who is a co-chair for the event - played it relatively safe while still looking gorgeous.

The Oscar winner was unsurprisingly decked out in Dior, sporting a black number with an embellished floral navy, white and red design on the top and back.

Jennifers slim but curvy frame was on show in the dress, in particular thanks to a cut-out section across the stomach, and she swept her newly long blonde hair into a ballerina bun.

Daring to bare: Jennifer Lopez made sure to highlight her derriere in a racy red Versace gown

Punk was two years ago!: Miley Cyrus appeared to have the theme mixed up in studded Alexander Wang and with freshly dyed blue hair

Hot stuff: The former Disney princess posed with pal Zoe Kravitz, who was sizzling in a silver chain mail creation

Team Moschino: Katy Perry and Madonna coordinated in cleavage-baring gowns and had a giggle on the red carpet
